Tree Plantation

Project Name: Tree Plantation to Protect Environment, Nature and Ecological Balance.

SDGs:
  • Preface:

In order to effectively combat climate change and global warming, it is necessary to strategically plant more trees, which has a number of short-term and long-term advantages. One of the most pleasant and ecologically sustainable activities is planting trees. In addition to being attractive, they reduce the chance of flooding, enhance the quality of the air, and lower the impact of the urban heat island by reflecting light and providing shade. Animals and plants share a tight relationship with one another. In addition, trees generate and release oxygen, which is vital for animal life. Animals breathe out carbon dioxide with each breath, which is a toxic substance that is very bad for the environment. In exchange for releasing oxygen, which is necessary for animal survival, trees absorb the polluted carbon dioxide. In light of the current situation, it is safe to say that plantations are crucial for both the environment and us.  Therefore, SESDO has taken up this project considering the future health conditions, global warming and various other aspects of plantations.

  • Project Duration

This project started in 2017 and is still ongoing.

  • Project Benefit

SESDO intends to plant 5000 trees under this project and it will directly help in improving our surrounding environment.

Project location

  • Significant

Despite recent rabid deforestation, the earth still has approximately 3 trillion or 3 lakh crore trees. However, this quantity of trees is far below what is necessary, and deforestation continues under a multitude of guises. According to numerous study articles and researchers, we must immediately stop indiscriminately cutting down trees and begin mass tree planting. They also provided a precise estimate of the number of additional plantings that are required globally because this is the only approach to minimize carbon pollution and global warming. They determined that in order to maintain the environment, the globe must plant at least 1.2 trillion additional trees. Due to the destruction of forests, forest fires are increasing, people’s lives are becoming miserable, and the vegetation is decreasing day by day. Rain water is falling directly on the ground, and soil erosion is occurring. But when this water accumulates in the soil below the plants, it is stored at various levels through the roots. On the other hand, the water accumulates in the leaves and decomposes to form organic fertilizer. By holding onto moisture in the air, trees in turn control the temperature. They also help to control rainfall, storms, and floods. Every year, 2.4 million tons of carbon dioxide are emitted into the atmosphere as a result of ongoing deforestation around the world, raising the temperature of the environment. Global deforestation has led to the imminent extinction of some 50 animal species.

Numerous environmental issues, such as biodiversity loss, are being brought on by deforestation. Previously, rivers, canals, and wells provided 25% of the water needed for irrigation, but these resources are no longer accessible. The country experiences floods, droughts, and excessive rain due to the coastal region’s yearly exposure to sea tides. The World Resources Institute estimates that only 5% of Bangladesh’s total land area is covered in forests, despite the fact that the nation has 10.3% of its land covered in forest, or 1.52 million hectares. Therefore, it is now everyone’s responsibility to plant trees. As a result, it is now necessary for us to raise awareness of the value of tree planting among our local peoples.
