Today, 26 February 2026, I had the honor to attend the Semi-Annual Meeting of the Coastal Minority Rights Development Forum at Agrogoti Resort, Satkhira. This initiative is funded by the European Union in Bangladesh and implemented by Agrogoti Sangstha under the SIRRM Project (Strengthening Inclusion and Rights of Religious Minority Communities, June 2025 โ€“ May 2028).

Twelve organizations, including SESDO, were invited to discuss the challenges faced by minority communities in Tala and Shyamnagar Upazilas. These challenges include social, political, economic, cultural, and educational barriers, affecting communities like Ahmadiyya Muslims, Rishi, Jele, Kaiputra, Rajbongshi, Dalit and other religious minority groups.

During the meeting, we focused on:

* Understanding the root causes of exclusion and discrimination

* Identifying ways to increase awareness and cooperation among local leaders, religious representatives, government officials, and community organizations

* Planning the next six monthsโ€™ actions to promote inclusion, rights, and social support for minority groups

I shared that addressing these challenges requires joint efforts from all stakeholders and building community awareness and collaboration. Together, we can create a more inclusive and just society for all.

It was inspiring to see so many dedicated leaders and organizations coming together to support minority rights in our coastal communities.
