The location of Bangladesh is a place where the basic needs of all the people of Bangladesh, including social and economic needs such as livelihoods, food security, safe drinking water, agriculture, and health are closely linked with climate change and the mangrove forest of the Sundarbans. Climate change has become a major topic of discussion in the current global context. Bangladesh is one of the countries affected by climate change due to the fact that most of Bangladesh’s large population is located in the coastal area. The quality of life of these vast populations, as well as their livelihoods, safe drinking water, food security, sanitation, and health, are all threatened by the effects of climate change. Mangrove forests in the Sundarbans are playing an important role in the middle of this huge population and climate change. Along with climate adaptation and mitigation, the conservation of mangrove forests is very important, as the quality of life for this huge population in coastal areas depends on mangrove forests.
Since 2017, SESDO has been working tirelessly to improve the quality of life of the affected population by bringing together researchers, climate activists, environmental activists, doctors, academics, a group of young people, and people at the local level. SESDO has already implemented more than 20 projects and is committed to working towards the implementation and proper development of society, nature, agriculture, food, health, gender equality, women’s empowerment, and other areas according to the UN SDGs.
