Protecting the Site Before Restoration
The second restoration site of Mangroves4Life: Community-Led Mangrove Restoration in the Sundarbans is taking shape in Gabura, Satkhira.
As part of our Community-Based Ecological Mangrove Restoration (CBEMR) approach, community members are installing protective bamboo fencing to safeguard naturally regenerating mangroves and prepare the degraded coastal site for restoration.
This work is supported by Ma Earth and carried out in partnership with YPARD Bangladesh, strengthening community-led action for the future of the Sundarbans.
For us, restoration begins before planting. It begins by understanding the landscape, protecting natural regeneration, and creating the conditions for nature to recover.
SESDO remains committed to supporting communities to restore and protect coastal ecosystems through locally led, ecologically appropriate, and long-term restoration.
