Site Selected, Protective Fencing Underway

The 2026 Mangroves4Life restoration season continues to move forward.

We are pleased to share another important milestone in our restoration journey.

Our team has successfully selected the next mangrove restoration site in Gabura Union, Satkhira, Bangladesh, where we are preparing to restore an additional 3 hectares of degraded coastal land along the Sundarbans coastline.

During our site assessment, we found naturally emerging mangrove seedlings already growing across parts of the restoration area, an encouraging sign of the site’s ecological potential.

Following site selection, community members have begun installing protective fencing around the restoration site. This important step helps protect the area while preparations continue for the next phase of restoration activities.

These photos capture another milestone in our journey, from selecting the restoration site to working together with local communities to protect it before restoration begins.

At Mangroves4Life, restoration starts long before planting. Through our Community-Based Ecological Mangrove Restoration (CBEMR) approach, we work closely with local communities to understand ecological conditions, protect natural regeneration, and create the best possible conditions for long-term ecosystem recovery.

Every step forward reflects the dedication, knowledge, and stewardship of coastal communities, whose leadership remains at the heart of this restoration journey.
