Every Mangrove Forest Tells a Story

Every Mangrove Forest Tells a Story

Every mangrove forest tells a story.

That story doesn’t begin on planting day.

It begins with the tides, with people, and with patience.

Because forests don’t remember how many trees we planted. They remember how many survived.

That is the philosophy behind Mangroves4Life.

In Gabura Union, on the edge of the Sundarbans, we follow Community-Based Ecological Mangrove Restoration (CBEMR) by working with nature, not against it. Instead of focusing only on planting trees, we restore natural tidal flows, match the right mangrove species to the right locations, and empower local communities to care for these ecosystems long after the planting season ends.

Our restoration approach is community-led from beginning to end. Local women collect mangrove seeds, young people and community members help identify restoration sites, communities protect and nurture young mangroves, and youth continue monitoring restoration sites long after planting is complete.

Because restoring a forest is never about planting the most trees.

It is about giving nature the chance to recover, so mangroves can thrive for generations.

We are honoured that Mangroves4Life has been selected from more than 800 projects worldwide to participate in Ma Earth Funding Round 3.

From 1–21 July, every contribution supports community-led restoration while helping unlock additional matching funds through Ma Earth’s collective funding model. Every new supporter strengthens our collective impact and helps local communities continue restoring one of the world’s most important coastal ecosystems.

If this story speaks to you, we’d be honoured to have you stand with us.
