One Tree For One Baby | SESDO’s Tree Ownership Model

A Community-Led Model for Growing Lifelong Relationships with Nature

Every year, millions of trees are planted around the world, yet many never reach maturity. Not because people do not care, but because too few trees ever become part of someone’s life.

This simple reality inspired us to ask a different question:

What if every child entered the world with a tree growing alongside them?

That question gave rise to One Tree For One Baby, the first implementation of SESDO’s Tree Ownership Model.

At SESDO, we believe that lasting restoration does not begin with planting. It begins with belonging.

When a tree becomes part of a family’s story, caring for it is no longer an obligation. It becomes an act of love, responsibility, and hope. Ownership creates connection, connection inspires care, and care grows into lifelong environmental stewardship.

Through One Tree For One Baby, every newborn is welcomed with a climate-resilient tree that will grow alongside them, building a lifelong relationship between children, families, and nature.

The initiative was first introduced through the GEAF Ambassador Programme during 4.29 Green Earth Action Day 2026, with the support and inspiration of the Green Earth Action Foundation.

More than a tree planting initiative, One Tree For One Baby represents a community-led model for strengthening environmental stewardship through family ownership, responsibility, and hope.

Our vision is simple yet transformative:

One child. One tree. One family. One shared future.
