Mangroves4Life: A Community-Led Model for Real Mangrove Restoration

Mangroves4Life: A Community-Led Model for Real Mangrove Restoration
Mangrove restoration is not just about planting seedlings. It requires science-based planning, ecological understanding, community ownership, long-term stewardship, and sustainable livelihoods.
This video showcases the Mangroves4Life model developed by SESDO in Gabura Union, Satkhira, Bangladesh, integrating Community-Based Ecological Mangrove Restoration (CBEMR), site assessment, hydrology restoration, species selection, natural regeneration, plantation, community stewardship, and livelihood support.
In just nine months, 1.29 hectares of degraded coastal land has begun transforming into a thriving mangrove ecosystem, demonstrating the power of community-led, nature-based solutions.
Mangroves4Life is more than a restoration project. It is a scalable model for climate resilience, biodiversity protection, and coastal community empowerment.
